The passenger ferry Marco Polo, which ran aground last fall, releasing up to 55 tons of oil into the seas off Pukaviksbukten in Blekinge, is set to return to service in mid-2024. The accident, attributed to a "human navigation error," necessitated a clean-up operation along a 2.5-mile stretch of coastline, with approximately 46 tons of oil recovered so far.
Owned by TT-Line, the ferry was en route to Karlshamn when the incident occurred.
It has since been repaired and deemed in good condition before leaving the port of Trelleborg.
