Ahmadreza Djalali, a Swedish-Iranian researcher, has announced a hunger strike in Iran's Evin Prison.
He was detained in 2016 and later sentenced to death on charges of espionage for Israel.
His wife, Vida Mehrannia, stated that Djalali is protesting the Swedish government's inability to include him in a recent prisoner exchange.
Despite criticisms, Swedish officials claim they made significant efforts for his release.
Djalali's health is in severe condition after nearly 3,000 days in detention.
