In a major development in the shooting case of 12-year-old Adriana in 2020, the Swedish Court of Appeal has made changes to the verdict delivered by the district court.
The court upheld life sentences for Maykil Yokhanna, 31, and Hassan Mohammad, 32. However, Benjamin Mahdi, 25, who was earlier sentenced to life imprisonment, has been acquitted of murder charges but sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison for preparation for murder.
The court ruled that there wasn't enough evidence to prove Mahdi's involvement in the murder.
All three men were accused of involvement in a gang dispute during which Adriana was shot.
Another suspect, Serkan Demirkiran, remains internationally wanted.
