In a recent ruling, two men, Maykil Yokhanna, 31, and Hassan Mohammad, 32, have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Svea Court of Appeal for the murder of 12-year-old Adriana in Norsborg, Sweden in 2020. However, the court has acquitted Benjamin Mahdi, 25, who was previously sentenced to life in prison for the same crime, finding him guilty instead of preparation for murder and sentencing him to nine years and eight months in prison.
The primary targets of the shooting, which took place at a fast food restaurant, were believed to be members of a rival gang.
Adriana was unfortunately caught in the crossfire.
Despite the lack of direct evidence, the court relied on a 'dense web of independent indirect evidence' including chat records and a music video featuring the vehicle used in the murder.
Another suspect, Serkan Demirkiran, remains at large and is internationally wanted.
