A 20-year-old woman has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempted murder and serious weapons offenses, but she was acquitted of murder charges related to the shooting of a 17-year-old boy in Norrköping last December.
The woman had lured the boy under the pretense of selling him headphones, but he was shot multiple times during the meeting.
The court found insufficient evidence to prove she was the shooter, as there were no witnesses or forensic links to the murder.
However, she admitted to firing shots at an apartment door in a separate incident, where multiple people were present.
This case highlights the increasing involvement of women in gang-related violence in Sweden, marking a significant moment as it is the first time a woman has been charged as a shooter in such conflicts.
Experts suggest that women's roles in gang environments may evolve as these incidents continue to rise.
