In the high-profile murder case of 12-year-old Adriana, who was killed in the midst of a gang conflict in Norsborg, near Stockholm, in August 2020, two of the three men previously sentenced to life imprisonment have had their sentences upheld by the Svea Court of Appeal.
Maykil Yokhanna, 31, and Hassan Mohammad, 32 are to serve life sentences for the murder.
However, the court has acquitted the third man, Benjamin Mahdi, 25, of murder.
Instead, he has been sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison for the preparation of murder.
The case, lacking direct evidence, relied heavily on indirect evidence and communication between the men before and after the murder.
The court's decision has sparked debate on the justice of the verdicts.
