The introduction of the Millennium medical records system in Västra Götalandsregionen has sparked significant controversy and protests.

The system, which began operation at Södra Älvsborgs Hospital in Borås, has been criticized for lacking external security checks and failing to comply with EU regulations.

Concerns were raised by a senior doctor, Wojciech Skup, who interrupted a press conference to highlight the system's failures, including doctors' inability to issue prescriptions.

This led to protests by healthcare staff outside the hospital, demanding the system's immediate suspension.

The Västra Götalands Medical Association is considering legal action, citing patient safety risks.

Meanwhile, some healthcare centers have reverted to manual documentation due to the system's inefficiencies.
