On Christmas day, a man in his 30s was shot inside the Pitchers pub in central Västerås, resulting in life-threatening injuries.

Approximately 30 guests were present at the location during the shooting.

The police received several calls about the shooting shortly after 9 pm.

Witnesses report hearing five shots fired inside the pub, causing panic and prompting many guests to flee the scene.

The victim was transported to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.

No arrests have been made in connection to the crime, which is being investigated as attempted murder and severe weapon crime.

Later in the evening, another shooting was reported in the Erikslund district of Västerås, but no injured individuals were found nor any direct connection established between the two incidents.
