A man in his 30s was shot on Christmas Day evening at a restaurant in central Västerås.

The man was transported to the hospital for life-threatening injuries.

The shooting occurred at the pub Pitchers, with reports suggesting that five shots were fired.

The pub was packed with patrons at the time, with estimates suggesting there were between 25-30 people inside when the shooting occurred.

A reporter from P4 Västmanland, Lukas Nordén, had just left the establishment moments before the shooting.

The police have launched an extensive manhunt for the suspect(s) and are treating the incident as an attempted murder and severe weapons violation.

An hour after the shooting at Pitchers, the police received reports of another shooting in Västerås, this time in Erikslund.

No injured person was found, but police are investigating based on reports from the scene.

They can't yet confirm if there's any connection between the two incidents.
