A recent investigation by Dagens Nyheter has unveiled unauthorized human experiments conducted by researchers at Chalmers University.
The research center CBPR, part of Chalmers, has been found to have conducted at least 15 studies on humans without the necessary permits from the Swedish Medical Products Agency.
This revelation has prompted the agency to launch a new investigation into the center's activities.
Concerns were raised by professors Maria Asplund and Pernilla Wittung-Stafshede, who highlighted the potential risks involved in these experiments.
One participant, Mattias Hallberg, suffered severe infections during the trials, which were not reported by the researchers.
Despite the complications, Hallberg expressed no regrets about participating, citing the groundbreaking nature of the research.
The situation has raised significant ethical questions about transparency and safety in medical research.
