The municipality of Botkyrka received over 65 million kronor in grants to stop the recruitment of new members into criminal gangs.

However, the funds were partly used for unrelated expenses like trips to New York, refurbishing a camp, and installing Christmas lights.

Pernilla Vera, Head of Safety and Security in Botkyrka, defended the use of these funds, stating they were part of long-term crime prevention initiatives.
