In a bold move to combat the escalating gang recruitment among youth, Sweden's Social Democrats have proposed a significant investment of 700 million kronor in their upcoming spring budget motion.
The funds are earmarked for two key strategies: assigning personal followers or implementing electronic monitoring with ankle bracelets for young individuals identified as at risk of joining criminal gangs.
This initiative, which necessitates a change in the current law, aims to intervene more decisively in preventing youth from spiraling into criminal activities.
The plan, articulated by the party's economic spokesperson, Mikael Damberg, is a part of a broader effort to ensure public safety and halt the trend of increasing gang violence in Sweden.
