Botkyrka municipality in Sweden is under scrutiny after it was revealed that government funds intended to combat gang recruitment among youth were misused.
A significant portion of the grant, over 600,000 kronor, was allocated to a PR campaign for a local community center, Albys hjärta.
The campaign, which included a new logo and promotional films, was ultimately discarded without being utilized.
This follows an earlier controversy where part of the same grant was used for a study trip to New York.
Press Chief Lennart Agén expressed regret over the mismanagement, acknowledging that the expenditures did not meet expectations and were unacceptable.
The funds were originally earmarked for social initiatives to prevent youth from falling into criminal activities, highlighting a serious lapse in oversight and accountability within the municipality.
