Over 5,000 members of the Swedish union Kommunal, representing employees in various municipal sectors, may go on strike tomorrow if no agreement is reached today.
The looming strike threat follows a breakdown in negotiations over a new contract concerning working hours and rest periods, particularly affecting rescue services and personal assistants.
The dispute involves employees across 132 municipalities, regions, and municipal companies, including school kitchen staff and hospital sterilization workers.
Efforts are underway to avert the strike, with mediators expected to present a proposal to both parties today.
