The potential strike involving 550,000 employees represented by the Swedish labor union Kommunal has been averted following a successful agreement with the employer organizations Sveriges kommuner och regioner (SKR) and Sobona.
The new deal, which prevented the strike scheduled to start tomorrow, includes a central wage increase of 985 SEK for members.
It also promises long-term solutions for salary processes and working hours, as outlined in Kommunal's press release.
Despite seeking more, Kommunal's chairperson, Malin Ragnegård, acknowledged the agreement as a positive step forward.
This resolution comes after the union had threatened to strike at 750 workplaces affecting 5,000 members to address issues with the current salary system and the lack of sustainable working hours.
