The Swedish government has announced a significant funding injection of 1 billion SEK to repair the E6 motorway near Stenungsund, severely impacted by a landslide last September.
This allocation, included in the spring amendment budget, ensures that the extensive restoration work will not detract from other road improvement projects.
Infrastructure Minister Andreas Carlson highlighted that this amount matches the Swedish Transport Administration's estimated restoration cost.
The E6 is expected to reopen in the fall, at the latest by the end of the year.
Recent arrests linked to a nearby construction site suggest improper disposal of construction materials may have caused the landslide, shedding light on the disaster's possible origins.
