Manfred Weber has been re-elected as the leader of the largest political group in the European Parliament, the EPP, with Swedish Tomas Tobé as one of the vice chairs.
Tobé received the second highest number of votes in the election.
Meanwhile, the Eurosceptic conservative group ECR, which includes the Sweden Democrats, has grown to become the third largest group in the parliament.
Their influence is expected to grow with recent additions from Romanian nationalist party AUR.
"We hope now for political influence and that EPP is ready to cooperate with us," said Charlie Weimers from the Sweden Democrats.
