A violent offender with severe psychological issues has escaped from the Helix psychiatric clinic at Huddinge Hospital in Stockholm.

The man, previously convicted of attempted murder for pushing someone onto the subway tracks, is currently being sought by police.

Ola Broström, head of Forensic Psychiatry Care Stockholm, confirmed the escape during an outdoor activity managed by the clinic's staff.

The police have not commented publicly on the incident yet but have launched a search operation.

Authorities state that while the risk of reoffending is now considered lower, an investigation into potential procedural lapses at the clinic will be conducted.
