Around 100 Ukrainian combat medics are visiting Skåne, Sweden, to recharge and share their battlefield medical experience with Swedish healthcare personnel.
Among them is Mykola Ovtjurenko, a former soldier turned medic, who relished trying infamous surströmming despite the fish's strong smell reminding him of war challenges.
The program includes meditation, mental coaching, and discussions with local professionals.
Ukrainian medics highlight the need to improvise under dire conditions and value the opportunity to escape their war-ridden daily lives briefly.
Swedish citizens have warmly welcomed the visitors, showing strong support for Ukraine.
