Sweden Announces Major Support Package for Ukraine

In a significant commitment to support Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict with Russia, Sweden has announced a comprehensive assistance package.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, along with key ministers, held a press conference at Berga Naval Base, unveiling plans to train over 18,000 Ukrainian soldiers.

This training initiative, valued at 400 million kronor, aims to enhance the Ukrainian military's capacity for advanced operations, including healthcare, mine clearance, and handling military equipment.

Furthermore, Sweden's latest military aid package, the fifteenth of its kind, includes 10 combat boats 90, 20 group boats, and underwater weapons such as mines and torpedoes, totaling 7.1 billion kronor.

The overall value of this package, including training and maritime contributions, amounts to approximately 9.8 billion kronor.

Overstelöjtnant Joakim Paasikivi underscored the importance of this support, noting its vital signal to Russia and its contribution to Ukraine's defensive capabilities.

The Swedish government has contributed a total of 30 billion kronor to Ukraine since the conflict's onset, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to aiding Ukraine's defense efforts.
