Toxic Smoke from Battery Fire Engulfs Trollhättan

A severe fire broke out in an industrial building in the Stallbacka area of Trollhättan, Sweden, early Friday morning.

The fire involved a drum of lithium-ion batteries, resulting in the release of toxic smoke.

A crucial public message was issued urging residents to stay indoors and shut doors, windows, and ventilation systems.

The warning was lifted around 8 AM.

Emergency services are now working to remove unburned batteries with the help of wheel loaders.

There are no reports of casualties.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
