The trial against Think Pink, a waste management company, has begun, marking one of Sweden's largest environmental crime cases.
The company, known for its pink waste bags, is accused of illegally dumping hazardous waste across 15 municipalities in central Sweden.
This has led to severe environmental damage, including toxic smoke from fires at waste sites, notably affecting Botkyrka.
Residents like Eva and Willy Nowak have suffered from the pollution, with lead contaminating their water.
The trial involves 11 defendants, including CEO Fariba Vancor, and is expected to last until next year.
Botkyrka, one of the hardest-hit areas, is seeking significant damages, highlighting the scandal's extensive impact on communities and the environment.
