Swedish Police Officer Charged for Passport Fraud

Published: 2024-09-06

A former police passport officer in Norrköping, Sweden, has been charged with producing seven fake Swedish passports.

The fraudulent activity was discovered when a Syrian man used one of these passports to travel from Dubai to Düsseldorf, Germany, where he sought asylum.

This incident raised significant concerns about the integrity of Swedish passports, as the fake documents were of high quality and created using police equipment.

The accused officer, who has admitted to the crime, is also charged with serious forgery, false certification, and data breach.

Two other individuals are implicated as accomplices, having assisted with photos and other biometric data.

The case has prompted Swedish authorities to review security measures to prevent future breaches.
