Swedish-Belarusian citizen, Galina Krasnianskaya, has been sentenced to a five-year sentence in Belarus, as reported by various news outlets.
The exact nature of her sentence, whether it is imprisonment or a strict penal colony, is unclear.
Krasnianskaya, 67, who resides in Stockholm, was arrested during a trip to Minsk last spring.
Though the reason for her sentencing has not been officially disclosed, Human Rights organizations suspect it may be due to her donations to Belarusian volunteers fighting for Ukraine.
The Swedish Foreign Ministry confirms they are acting on the case, in collaboration with the embassy in Minsk.
