Sweden is set to dramatically increase its reduction obligation to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045, as detailed by Dagens Nyheter.
The government's strategy involves raising the reduction obligation from the current 6 percent to 26.9 percent for diesel and 14.4 percent for gasoline.
Climate Minister Romina Pourmokhtari highlighted that this approach is based on the reduction obligation calculation model but emphasized that achieving the emission reductions could involve a variety of mechanisms beyond the reduction obligation, including carbon taxes, subsidies, and emissions trading.
This move comes amid broader efforts to address climate change and meet international environmental commitments.
