Sweden is bracing for a snowy start to the new year as SMHI issues multiple yellow warnings for snow and wind.

From New Year’s Day, areas west of Vänern could see 7-15 cm of fresh snow, causing traffic disruptions.

Similar snowfall is expected east of Vänern and in southern Svealand later in the day.

In Skåne, strong winds reaching storm levels may block roads with fallen trees and disrupt power.

Authorities urge residents to secure loose items and prepare for potential flooding in Västra Götaland later in the week.

The heaviest snowfalls are predicted in Östergötland, with up to 15 cm expected.
