On New Year's Day, a private individual fishing near Stampen in central Gothenburg discovered what was suspected to be an old hand grenade.

The area was cordoned off and the National Bomb Squad was called in to assess the situation.

The grenade was deemed dangerous and was later detonated by the squad.

The incident happened while Jonathan Heijmans and his family were magnet fishing in the area.

Upon the discovery, Heijmans alerted the police who then took appropriate measures to secure the area.
