In the early hours of Friday, a live hand grenade was discovered in the Skälby area of Västerås, prompting a swift response from the national bomb squad.
The grenade, found by a local resident walking their dog, was deemed a serious threat and was safely detonated by authorities.
The incident led to the evacuation of nearby residents and the closure of a large area, including parts of a school, as a precautionary measure.
Police are investigating potential links to ongoing violent conflicts, although no arrests have been made yet.
