A 20-year-old man has been detained on probable cause for aggravated assault after nine individuals, mostly from the same family, were poisoned by hash-laced cookies in Karlskrona.

The suspect, who was interrogated on Saturday, has changed his account of the events, contradicting the victims' statements.

Prosecutor Lena-Marie Bergström noted that further investigative measures are necessary.

The poisoning incident, which occurred last Tuesday, led to several victims requiring emergency hospital care, where tests revealed the presence of THC, a compound found in cannabis, in their blood.

The suspect's detention aims to prevent any interference with the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, interviews with the affected children are pending, as specialized child interviewers are required.
