The Left Party in Stockholm is urging the region to give the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKR) the mandate to negotiate shortened working hours.
This push comes as the nurses' union, Vårdförbundet, continues its overtime blockade, with 3,300 members striking and disruptions affecting healthcare services.
In a related development, the union in Östergötland has withdrawn all strike notices due to safety concerns over staff shortages but maintains its blockade affecting nearly 4,000 employees.
The conflict has led to fewer medical procedures and primary care treatments.
Political intervention is deemed essential to resolve the ongoing labor disputes.
