The Swedish Nursing Association, Vårdförbundet, has announced an overtime blockade against employers in the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKR) and the employer organization Sobona, following unsuccessful negotiations.
This action, set to commence at 4 p.
m.
on Wednesday, will see around 63,000 employees, including nurses, midwives, and biomedical analysts, ceasing to work overtime and additional hours.
Furthermore, a hiring freeze will be implemented for the affected job categories.
The blockade is expected to primarily impact planned care, resulting in reduced services and longer waiting times for patients in need of scheduled treatments and test results.
The conflict stems from disputes over working hours for healthcare staff.
