Following substantial protests against healthcare cutbacks in Jokkmokk, Region Norrbotten has announced that the health center's hours will not be reduced completely during the summer.
Patients can seek care from 7 AM to 8 PM on weekdays and 8 AM to 8 PM on weekends, a change from the previous 24/7 availability.
Efforts are underway to recruit more staff by fall to restore full general medical services.
An ambulance will also be stationed in Jokkmokk throughout the summer to compensate for resource shortages.
