Healthcare regions across Sweden are grappling with severe staffing shortages this summer.
In response, Region Norrbotten is offering healthcare workers, such as nurses, significant financial incentives to postpone their holidays, with potential bonuses of up to 100,000 kronor.
Despite these efforts, the situation remains critical, causing delays in treatments and forcing some regions like Västernorrland to temporarily close health centers and reallocate staff.
The ongoing healthcare strike and reduced interest in temporary staffing roles further exacerbate the crisis.
Surveys indicate that 10 out of 21 regions are facing worse staffing conditions this summer compared to last year.
