A spate of accidents caused by sudden icy conditions on roads across Sweden has prompted warnings from Trafikverket, the Swedish Transport Administration.

Major roads including E6 and E22 have been affected, with several accidents involving trucks.

One man died in a crash on the E4 in Södertälje, while another in his 80s also died in a collision on Road 56 near Västerås.

Trafikverket's Bengt Olsson warns that the unpredictable weather could cause further incidents in the run-up to Christmas.

He advises all drivers to reduce speed and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
