A string of severe accidents has occurred across Sweden due to sudden icy conditions, leaving two dead and disrupting traffic.

The Swedish Transport Administration and the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute have issued multiple warnings for black ice, particularly affecting E6, E22, E4 and several other main roads.

Authorities are working round the clock to clear the roads and improve conditions.

The icy roads have caused several truck accidents, with some trucks carrying hazardous materials, causing further complications.

In Södertälje and outside Västerås, two people were killed in separate incidents.

The public is urged to maintain caution while using the roads during this period.
