Hungary is set to vote on Monday to potentially approve Sweden's NATO membership, marking a significant step towards Sweden becoming the 32nd member of the alliance.
This pivotal decision comes after a lengthy journey for Sweden, initiated by the full-scale Russian attack on Ukraine two years ago, which drastically altered Europe's security landscape.
The Hungarian parliament's vote follows Turkey's recent approval of Sweden's application, leaving Hungary as the last country required to ratify Sweden's membership.
The vote is expected to occur between 4 and 6 PM, according to the parliamentary schedule.
If approved, the decision will be swiftly sent to the U.
S. State Department, finalizing Sweden's long-awaited NATO accession.
