Gothenburg Protest Cleared for Liberal Event

Published: 2024-11-25

In Gothenburg, Sweden, a long-standing protest against the Gaza conflict was dismantled by police early Friday morning.

The protest, which had persisted for nearly 200 days outside the University of Gothenburg, was cleared to make way for a Liberal Party assembly.

The Liberals had secured a permit for a public gathering at the site, prompting police to disperse the remaining demonstrators, some of whom had chained themselves to the protest camp.

By 7:30 AM, twelve individuals were reported for disobeying police orders.

Later that day, the Liberals held their planned manifestation, emphasizing the importance of adhering to laws and democratic principles.

The event drew hundreds of attendees, while a counter-demonstration formed across the street, leading to some tension and the removal of two individuals by police.
