The small municipality of Götene in Sweden has become a global sensation with its campaign to sell land plots at a bargain price of one krona per square meter.
Initially launched to attract new residents, the campaign caught international attention when CNN and other major news outlets reported on the deal.
The overwhelming global response led thousands of interested buyers, from countries like India and the USA, to flood the municipality with inquiries.
Local authorities, surprised by the massive interest, have been compelled to pause the campaign until August 7 to manage the situation.
"We never imagined this level of interest," said Johan Månsson, chairman of the municipal board, highlighting plans to review the sale conditions.
