Ebba Busch, leader of the Christian Democrats and current Minister of Energy and Industry, has criticized a proposal by Liberal Fredrik Malm suggesting that churches in Sweden should refrain from baptizing asylum seekers awaiting their asylum decisions.
Malm argued that conversion during the asylum process can be problematic and suggested that genuine conversions could wait until after asylum has been granted.
Busch countered by emphasizing that baptism and the grace of God are universal, transcending immigration status.
She also stressed the importance of religious freedom and the need for a more effective migration system that does not compromise on such fundamental rights.
