Ahead of the EU elections in June, the Swedish Christian Democrats (KD), led by Ebba Busch, are advocating for a significant overhaul of Europe's migration policy with a proposal for a 'Migration Pact 2.0'.
This new policy aims to end decades of what Busch describes as an 'asylum lottery', prioritizing asylum for those with the greatest need, such as women, children, and the elderly, over those with the most resources.
The proposal suggests moving the asylum application process outside of European and Swedish territory, utilizing a quota refugee system with processing centers both within and beyond EU borders.
The party's EU election campaign, themed around 'borders and freedom', also emphasizes strengthening security in Europe and supporting Ukraine amidst what has been described as the most serious period since World War II.
