In a significant development in the fight against the rampant gold scam in southern and western Sweden, surveillance cameras at a hotel in Lidköping may hold key evidence against the suspects.

The hotel, a site of one of the fraudulent transactions, has handed over footage and other materials to the police.

This comes as one individual has been arrested in connection with the widespread scam that saw people across various towns tricked into handing over jewelry, silverware, coins, and trophies with the promise of payment at a later date.

Police are actively investigating the similarities across over 150 reports of fraud, following a deceptive tour where the scammers distributed flyers promising to buy valuables.

The arrest marks a crucial step in unraveling the operations of this deceitful scheme.
