A man in his 60s was arrested at Arlanda Airport, Sweden's largest airport, after customs officers discovered gold bars worth 1.7 million SEK in his luggage.
The incident occurred just after lunch on Sunday, and the man was attempting to leave the country with the gold.
Police have seized the gold bars and the man is now suspected of major money laundering offenses.
The arrest and the details of the find were not made public until Monday morning.
