Växjö School Closes Amid Shooting Threat

Published: 2025-02-26

The Teknikum high school in Växjö, Sweden, was closed on Wednesday following a serious threat of a potential shooting.

The decision to cancel all classes was made by the school administration after police received vague but concerning information about the threat.

Anders Elingfors, head of the education department, emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety, especially in light of recent events like the Örebro mass shooting.

As a precaution, all three high schools in the area have implemented heightened security measures, including locked doors and the presence of security guards.

Police are stationed at Teknikum and other schools to ensure safety, though no arrests have been made.

The situation remains calm, and further decisions on security will be made in the coming days.
