A recent international study, Icils, reveals that 39% of Swedish eighth graders lack basic digital skills, particularly in evaluating online information.
Despite growing up with technology, many students struggle with digital literacy, a concern echoed by Anna Castberg from Skolverket.
The study, which included 34 countries, shows Swedish students performing at the EU average, with Denmark leading in the Nordic region.
While 41% of Swedish students possess basic IT skills, only 20% can independently solve digital tasks.
The findings highlight a need for improved digital education, with students like Emilia Janke advocating for more programming lessons in schools.
