A recent investigation has revealed that nearly 70 military vehicles have vanished from the Fredriksberg Preparedness Center, despite agreements prohibiting their disposal.
These vehicles, originally part of Sweden's military inventory, have reportedly ended up with private individuals, companies, and other organizations.
Notably, two military ambulances were sent to Ukraine, involving a former employee.
This situation traces back to post-Cold War practices when the Swedish military downsized and distributed surplus equipment, including heavy vehicles like bandwagons.
The military is now working to track down these missing assets, with some already located.
The incident highlights ongoing challenges in managing military resources and the complexities of past downsizing decisions.
