The Swedish Left Party has requested that the parliamentary vote on the controversial defense cooperation agreement (DCA) with the US, scheduled for Tuesday, be postponed.
This pact, which allows the American military to use 17 Swedish bases, has faced criticism due to the lack of clear provisions against nuclear weapons on Swedish soil, unlike similar agreements with Denmark and Norway.
Despite assurances from the Social Democrats and KD that the pact aligns with Sweden's non-nuclear stance, the Left Party remains unconvinced, stressing that the current text offers only a one-sided Swedish interpretation without binding US verification.
