Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström has confirmed that the government will not evacuate Swedish citizens from Lebanon, citing concerns over the difficulty of safely extracting individuals from the region.
Billström emphasized that the situation could escalate to a point where it becomes impossible to assist Swedes in Lebanon.
He stated, "The state does not have an obligation to carry out an operation," reinforcing the government's stance on the matter.
In contrast, Social Democratic spokesperson Morgan Johansson has called for Sweden to coordinate with other nations to develop an evacuation plan.
The government’s decision reflects a broader assessment of the risks involved in the current situation in Lebanon.
