The Swedish government has decided to expel a middle-aged Chinese journalist, who has been in custody since October last year, citing her as a "serious threat" to national security.
The journalist, who has resided in Sweden for nearly two decades and has family there, is accused of conducting security-threatening activities for over a decade.
Despite her lawyer's claims of a lack of due process and incorrect information forming the basis of her profile, the decision includes a lifetime ban on re-entry into Sweden.
This move comes amid broader concerns over Chinese espionage in Sweden, with Säpo (Swedish Security Service) highlighting the country's intensive focus on combating threats from China.
