Ukrainian refugees in Sweden can now register as residents and obtain personal identification numbers, according to the Swedish Tax Agency, Skatteverket.
Following the European Union's recent decision to extend temporary protection until March 4, 2026, those who arrived in Sweden in early 2022 under this directive are eligible.
The registration requires a personal visit for identity verification.
Sandra Hedberg of Skatteverket highlighted the individual evaluation of each application.
The agency anticipates longer processing times due to the influx of applications.
