Sweden is ramping up its defense strategy with a significant focus on air defense, as highlighted in the latest government proposal.
The plan includes a substantial investment of 174 billion kronor in military defense by 2030, with a particular emphasis on strengthening the air defense regiment in Halmstad, currently the only one in the country.
This move comes in response to the evolving global security landscape, influenced by recent conflicts such as the war in Ukraine.
The number of military positions is set to increase from 88,000 to 130,000 by 2035, marking a shift from previous decades where international crisis management was prioritized over national defense.
This strategic pivot underscores Sweden's commitment to bolstering its military capabilities in light of changing geopolitical dynamics.
